Setup Guide

The Verdict

The TrimUI Smart Pro is TrimUI's mid-range attempt with an Allwinner A133 Plus chip. It's a clear step up from H700 devices with better PSP and N64 support, plus a gorgeous 4.96" screen. At $80, it's the best budget Linux handheld for N64/PSP gaming. But if you can stretch to $120+, Android devices like a used Retroid Pocket 4 Pro will demolish it.

First Thing to Do

1. **Install CrossMix OS** — Stock firmware is mediocre

2. **Get a fast MicroSD card** — Samsung EVO Plus 128GB

3. **Load GBA/SNES/PS1/N64/PSP ROMs** — These all run great

4. **Test Dreamcast** — Some games work, worth trying

The Loadout

**PS1:** PCSX ReARMed (full library, excellent)

**PSP:** PPSSPP (many games work including some 3D)

**N64:** Mupen64Plus (most games run well)

**DS:** DraStic (most games)

**Dreamcast:** Flycast (some games run, others struggle)

**GBA:** gpSP (perfect)

**SNES:** Snes9x (flawless)

**Genesis:** PicoDrive (perfect)

What It Crushes

**PS1** — Full library runs perfectly

**GBA/SNES/Genesis** — Overkill for these, but perfect

**N64** — Mario 64, Mario Kart, Zelda OoT, Smash Bros all run well

**PSP** — Better PSP support than H700 devices

What It Struggles With

**PSP demanding games** — God of War, Crisis Core struggle

**N64 heavy titles** — Perfect Dark, Rogue Squadron won't run well

**Dreamcast** — Very hit-or-miss

Skip These

**PS2/GameCube** — Not happening

**3DS** — Nope

Pro Tips

1. **1GB RAM is the bottleneck** — Don't expect miracles

2. **WiFi box art scraping is nice** — Makes the UI prettier

3. **Battery life is solid** — 4-5 hours on most games

4. **Best budget screen** — 4.96" at 720p is great for the price

Worth It?

Yes, if you want the best budget Linux handheld with a big screen. At $80, it's the sweet spot for N64/PSP/DS gaming without going Android. The A133 Plus handles more than the H700 devices. But if you can save up to $120-150, an Android device will be significantly more capable.

Setup Tips

  • Larger 4.96" screen — best screen in the budget Linux tier
  • WiFi and Bluetooth built-in
  • Install CrossMix OS for best experience
  • More capable than H700 devices — higher clock speed helps
  • Has analog sticks for N64/PSP

Watch Out For

  • !Only 1GB RAM (limits performance ceiling)
  • !A133 Plus is better than H700 but still budget-tier
  • !Battery life is 4-5 hours
  • !At $80, close to budget Android devices in price
