Setup Guide

The Verdict

The RG40XX H is the RG35XX H's slightly bigger brother. Same H700 chip, same 1GB RAM, same performance — but with a 4.0" screen instead of 3.5". You're paying $10 more for half an inch of screen. If you have larger hands or want a slightly bigger display for GBA/SNES/N64, this is worth it. Otherwise, save $10 and get the RG35XX H.

First Thing to Do

1. **Install muOS or MinUI** — Stock firmware is mediocre

2. **Get a good MicroSD card** — Samsung EVO 128GB

3. **Connect to WiFi** — Scrape box art

4. **Load GBA and N64 ROMs** — The 4.0" screen is perfect

The Loadout

**GBA:** gpSP (perfect, bigger screen helps)

**N64:** Mupen64Plus (most games work great with analog sticks)

**PSP:** PPSSPP (lighter titles)

**DS:** DraStic (most games work)

**GB/GBC:** Gambatte (flawless)

**SNES:** Snes9x (most games work)

**Genesis:** PicoDrive (perfect)

**NES:** FCEUmm (no issues)

**PS1:** PCSX ReARMed (most games)

What It Crushes

**GBA library** — Bigger screen makes text easier to read

**N64** — Mario 64, Zelda OoT, Mario Kart all play great

**Genesis** — Perfect for all Sonic/Streets of Rage games

**SNES** — Most games run great

What It Struggles With

**PS1 3D games** — Same H700 limitations

**SNES SuperFX** — Star Fox will chug

**PSP demanding games** — Not enough power

Skip These

**PS2/GameCube** — Not possible

**3DS** — Not possible

Pro Tips

1. **4.0" screen is noticeably bigger than 3.5"** — Better for reading text in RPGs

2. **WiFi box art scraping** — Makes the UI gorgeous

3. **Better for larger hands** — The bigger form factor is more comfortable

4. **Analog sticks make N64 and PSP viable** — Big advantage over non-H models

Worth It?

Yes, if you have larger hands or want a bigger screen. The $10 premium over the RG35XX H is justified if you find the 3.5" screen too small. Performance is identical, so this is purely an ergonomics/screen size decision.

Setup Tips

  • Larger 4.0" screen compared to RG35XX models
  • Horizontal GBA-style form factor with analog sticks
  • Install muOS or MinUI

Watch Out For

  • !Same H700 chip as RG35XX, just bigger screen
  • !Slightly larger and heavier
  • !More expensive than RG35XX H
