Setup Guide

The Verdict

The RG35XX H is the RG35XX Plus in a horizontal GBA-style form factor with analog sticks. Same H700 chip, same 1GB RAM, same performance — but the horizontal layout and analog sticks make N64 and PSP gaming much better. If you want to play N64 or PSP games, this is the better choice over the Plus. Pick based on ergonomics and whether you need sticks.

First Thing to Do

1. **Install muOS or MinUI** — Stock firmware is mediocre

2. **Get a good MicroSD card** — Samsung EVO 128GB recommended

3. **Connect to WiFi** — Scrape box art, update firmware

4. **Load GBA and N64 ROMs** — This form factor is perfect for both

The Loadout

**GBA:** gpSP (perfect, and this form factor is *chef's kiss* for GBA)

**N64:** Mupen64Plus (analog sticks make this way better than the Plus)

**PSP:** PPSSPP (2D and lighter 3D games)

**DS:** DraStic (most games work well)

**GB/GBC:** Gambatte (flawless)

**SNES:** Snes9x (most games work well)

**Genesis:** PicoDrive (perfect)

**NES:** FCEUmm (no issues)

**PS1:** PCSX ReARMed (most games)

What It Crushes

**GBA library** — The horizontal form factor makes this the ultimate GBA machine

**N64 with analog sticks** — Mario 64, Zelda OoT play great with actual sticks

**Genesis** — Perfect for Sonic, Streets of Rage

**SNES** — Most games run great

What It Struggles With

**PS1 3D games** — Same as RG35XX Plus, avoid demanding titles

**SNES SuperFX** — Star Fox will chug

**PSP demanding games** — God of War won't run well

Skip These

**PS2/GameCube** — Not possible

**3DS** — Not possible

Pro Tips

1. **This is the best budget GBA+N64 device** — Horizontal layout + analog sticks = perfect

2. **WiFi box art scraping makes the UI gorgeous** — Worth setting up

3. **Bluetooth for wireless controllers** — Great for couch sessions

Worth It?

Yes, especially over the Plus model if you want N64/PSP. The analog sticks are a game-changer for those systems. The $5 premium is absolutely worth it.

Setup Tips

  • Horizontal form factor like a GBA — has analog sticks!
  • WiFi and Bluetooth built-in
  • Install muOS or MinUI
  • Analog sticks make N64 and PSP much better than the Plus model

Watch Out For

  • !Same internals as RG35XX Plus, just horizontal with analog sticks
  • !Slightly more expensive for the form factor change
